Approach

From our medal winning RHS Chelsea Garden, through private and commercial gardens of all styles and scales, we think we bring flair, professionalism, and enthusiasm to all that we do. We design in 3D CAD to allow you to see your garden from all angles and to check specific views from inside and outside the property.

Our team consists of award winning designers, plantsmen, construction experts and maintenance professionals. We believe that having all of these things under one roof offers exceptional breadth of skills to our clients. It is there to call on, but our clients can choose to use as much or as little of this as makes sense to them. We pride ourselves on working comfortably with our clients builders, gardeners, relatives and neighbours.

Process

There are many ways to approach a landscaping project - and we are happy to discuss taking on some or all of the following.

A full design process might be:

1. Brief

Take the brief and feed it back with a proposed costing for the likely stages required;

2. Survey

Use existing plans or commission a full topographic survey as required;

3. Sketch proposals

Prepare initial plans in lovely 3-D CAD for review and discussion, then refine and develop;

4. Detailed proposals

Prepare plans in sufficient detail to allow a quotation to be prepared, include lighting, irrigation, planting and materials schedules as needed;

5. Costings

Work up costings, this can be iterative with the detailed designs - changing the designs to suit the budget and looking at alternatives;

6. Construction

Build, supervise the build, assist and monitor or leave to you as suits;

7. Management

Work up longer term maintenance or management plans for the site and execute.

Most design projects fall into one of the following three:

Full plan development

Full detailed plans are developed for the whole or a significant part of the site, leading to a quotation for build work and implementation assistance as needed (see project management). This will usually be done on a quoted fixed price.

Partial plans

A specific part of a site or a particular element needs work- planting plans, a bespoke water feature or technical design advice- again this is usually done on a quoted fixed price.

Ad hoc support

More open-ended works such as planning application support, on site consultations and project advisory help are usually carried out on an hourly basis- you can choose as much or as little support for your project as you want.
